1. Step (Day 1-2)
What you can consume?
- Sugar-free, caffeine-free fluids without carbonate
- Water
- Fresh fruit juices prepared with fresh fruits (without any bits, filtered)
- No sugar added fruit juices prepared of fresh and dried fruits
- Sugar-free lemonade
- Chicken, meat or vegetable broth
- Yoghurt water (Ayran)
- Herbal Teas
What should you take care of?
- The drinks you will consume should be at room temperature. Not too hot and not too cold.
- Sip your drinks slowly, do not use pipettes and spoons whilst drinking.
- Consume 30-60ml with 1-hour intervals.
- Make sure your fluid intake is 1500-2000ml daily.
- Prepare your freshly made juices and dilute them with adding the same volume of water on top. Take extra care to filter your juices and make it bits and particles free.
- If you will consume ready-made juices and lemonades, make sure they are sugar-free or sweetened with sweeteners.
- For your meat, chicken and vegetable broths, do not use extra spices and oil.
- When consuming your herbal tea, do not add up lemon juice, sugar, honey.
- When you are experiencing the fullness of the stomach, stop consuming fluid intake.
- In case of nausea and vomiting, please stop your fluid intake and make sure you are sitting and waiting in an upright sitting position. Make sure you are sipping your fluids slowly.
- After your fluid intake, please do not take a nap or do not lay down for 30-45 minutes.
2. Step (Day 3-14)
What can you consume?
- You may carry on your intake with the fluids that were aforementioned in Step 1.
- Semi-skimmed and lactose-free milk
- Semi-skimmed and lactose-free yoghurt
- Yoghurt water
- Sugar-free puddings
- Plain probiotic yoghurt.
- Plain kefir
- Protein shake
- Soups without bits, fibres and particles (low amount of fat, salt and spice can be added)
- Vegetable and fruit mash
What should you take care of?
- Consume your drinks and meals not too hot and cold, at room temperature with sipping slowly.
- Consume 60-90mk of fluid in 20-30 minutes of time.
- Make sure your fluid intake is 1500-2000 ml daily.
- Make sure your fluid intake is consisting of 1000ml of water daily.
- Do not forget to feed yourself with small portions and frequent intervals. (1-2 hours of interval in between each meal, 6-8 meals)
- Make sure you do not use oil and extra spices whilst preparing your vegetable mashes. Mash them until they are in the form of cream without any bits and pieces.
- You can use meat and chicken broth whilst preparing your soups (oil-free) without the extra addition of black pepper or red pepper. You may add a small amount of salt, mint and thyme.
- For the sugar-free pudding, you may use rice flour,
- Make sure your intake is a minimum of 60gr protein daily.
- Please stop fluid intake when you experience fullness at your stomach.
- Do not lay down or take a nap after your fluid consumption for 30 to 45 minutes.
- Make sure you use the vitamin-mineral and protein back up support that you have been recommended to use by your surgeon and nutritionists.
Step 3 (Day 15-28)
What can you consume?
- You can start having soft solid meals as an addition to your 1. and 2. Step consumptions.
- Eggs
- Cheese
- Peeled fruits
- Well cooked vegetable meal.
- Well cooked minced meat, chicken, fish and turkey
What should you take care of?
- Do not take any fluid besides your food intake. Your fluid intake should be 30 minutes before or 30 minutes after your meal intake.
- The fluid intake you take during one meal has to be in between 120-180ml.
- Make sure you have small portions with frequent intervals (6-8 meals)
- Chew each bite at least 15-20 times before swallowing.
- With every new food intake trial, take one bite, chew well and swallow with a little wait time followed after your swallowing. If you have experienced no discomfort, you may carry on eating.
- Your first egg intake trial should be on a pan without oil as an omelette, if you experience no discomfort in eating it, you may start with having boiled eggs as well.
- Your cheese selection should be reduced-fat and reduced-salt. You can cook some omelette with the right low-calorie cheese.
- For your vegetable dishes, you need to prepare it using a minimum amount of salt, a minimum amount of tomato sauce and chopped onions. For 1kg of vegetable food, you need to put no more than 1 tablespoon of olive oil.
- To increase the protein intake, you may add minced meat and eggs to your vegetable dishes.
- Do not try eating cauliflower, broccoli, cabbage, leek and celery at this step of your post-op diet as it may form gastric reactions and give you discomfort.
- You may use vegetables such as tomato, pepper, eggplant, spinach and zucchini whilst cooking your dishes.
- For the potato mash, you may use semi-skimmed milk whilst preparing it with no additional spices and oil. Do not consume potato mash if you have experienced constipation.
- To increase your protein intake, you may use eggs, milk, minced meat and chicken whilst preparing your soups.
- Do not add legumes to your dishes and soups.
- Do not fry or roast your meals.
- Do not consume citrus fruits.
- You may consume peeled apples and pears.
- You may consume banana if you are not experiencing constipation.
- You may chop your fruits and consume them with yoghurt and cinnamon.
- You may use cooking techniques such as grilling, boiling, steaming, baking and pan cooking without any oil whilst cooking minced meat, chicken and fish.
- Do not consume the fatty parts of the meat and skin of the chicken.
- Be careful of fish bone whilst consuming fish.
- Do not carry on eating once you experience fullness.
- Do not go out of your dietary plan to balance your 60 grams of protein intake daily.
- Remember that your prioritising nutrient is protein in every meal and make meal selections accordingly.
- Take care of your protein shake consumption and consume it in amounts as suggested by your nutritionist.
- In order not to have any problems with your nutrition, do not go out of your dietary plan.
- Take extra care of your daily medications and multivitamin intake as prescribed and suggested.
Step 4 ( 28th day and onwards)
What can you consume?
- You may now carry on with protein-rich and well-balanced diet programme.
- You should prioritise protein-rich food as a part of your diet and should carry on with the rest after you make sure you get enough protein intake daily.
What you should take care of?
- Do not consume fluid with your meals. Consume fluid 30 minutes before or after 30 minutes of your mealtime. Prefer your drinks to be at room temperature and take them by sips. Stop having fluid intake once you experience fullness.
- Consume a minimum of 1900ml of fluid daily.
- Take care of having small portions with frequent intervals (6-8 meals)
- Take care to chew your every bite around 15-20 times before swallowing. Take care to eat your meals slowly.
- With every new food intake trial, take one bite, chew well and swallow with a little wait time followed after your swallowing. If you have experienced no discomfort, you may carry on eating.
- For meal types which are not in a minced state such as meat, fish and chicken, make sure they are very well cooked and make sure you chew a lot and adequately before swallowing.
- Make sure your vegetable dishes are very well cooked and make sure to chew a lot and adequately before swallowing.
- For raw vegetable consumption, wait for the right time and ask for your nutritionist before starting on raw vegetable intake.
- Do not apply frying and roasting as cooking techniques. Instead, please grill, boil, steam or bake your dishes without any oil addition.
- Reduce your fat intake and prefer reduced-fat foods.
- For floured goods such as bread, please wait for the right time and ask for the advice of your nutritionist.
- Do not consume sugar, sugary foods and beverages.
- Stay away from drinks consisting of alcohol, caffeine and carbonate.
- Do not consume cream cheese, skimmed milk, ice-cream, butter, mayonnaise, cream and fatty sauces.
- Do not consume nuts and dried fruits for the first 3 months.
- Do not consume pastry such as cake (with or without icing) and cookies.
- Do not consume fatty delicatessen products.
- Stop eating right after you experience fullness.
- Do not go out of your daily dietary plan to balance your minimum daily protein intake of 60gr.
- Remember that your prioritising nutrient is protein in every meal and make meal selections accordingly.
- Take care of your protein shake consumption and consume it in amounts as suggested by your nutritionist.
- In order not to have any problems with your nutrition, do not go out of your dietary plan.
- Take extra care of your daily medications and multivitamin intake as prescribed and suggested.
